Time is an Hour Glass

by Mary E. Lowd

We are in one half of an hour glass
As the sand diminishes
We catch glimpses
Of the emptiness on the other side

But the other side gets less empty
The closer we come to entering it
And if we wait
With the patience of a tiger
We can’t help but find
Our way through
