The Glass Castle

by Mary E. Lowd

In the glass castle
Every window is a prism
Every room a garden
…but the walls are so thin

The beauty is dazzling
The perfumed air
—thick with flowers—
A constant delight

At night, the stars shine down
Unimpeded
But this is no fortress

When inside, you’re always in sight
