Claiming the Ruins

by Mary E. Lowd

Years after
The end of the parties
And the laughter
When the calamity concluded
The ruined city
Secluded, began to crumble
But the wild deer
Still ramble
Wandering the ruins
Old buildings, no new ones
But what’s left
Belongs to them
