The Ruins Around the Crystal

by Mary E. Lowd

At the heart of the city
A crystal, so pretty
Mysterious, imperious
What glories could it control?

With hoofs so cautious
A tiny deer, so flawless
Decides to try
Turning it on

The ruins around her
Abound with power
Start to sizzle
Electricity fizzles
But naught changes
Anon
