Hold the Moon

by Mary E. Lowd

Stretched thin & drawn taut
Darkness taunts
The past haunts
But you fill your eyes
With silver light

Keep your focus tight—
Find a future
Enact a suture
Don’t let the moon
Escape your grasping eyes

Hold it tight
Let it ignite
A kind of second sight:
Survival leading to revival
