The Steampunk Elephant

by Mary E. Lowd

Tiny and precious
In the palm of a hand
She stands with all the might
That an elephant of her size
—diminutive & sweet—
Can muster
All her bluster
Amounts to nothing
In the face of an owner
Who loves her, unbothered
By insecurities, uncertainties
That plague her, nag her
Undone
