The Snow Dragon

by Mary E. Lowd

As the sun touches
The crystalline skin
Of the snow dragon
Energy sizzles in its core

The tight-packed snow
Shivers
The icy heart
Beats

Before this dragon melts
In the glowing sun
For at least a moment
—maybe longer—
It’s coming to life
