One of the things I love about selling books at conventions is that it gives me a really visceral sense of what readers are responding to and what interests them. It makes it easy to come away excited about future projects.
Right now, I’m excited about converting more of the SPACE HOUNDS! webcomic into a second graphic novel, writing a Tri-Galactic Trek Chronicle about the rabbit bartender inspired by Guinan, and possibly actually getting around to writing a sequel to Nexus Nine…
The sequel to Nexus Nine would feature the almost annoyingly chipper squirrel doctor getting entangled in intrigue and possibly romance with an exiled lizard alien who may or may not be a tailor. I was already planning to write it eventually, but possibly not for a few years.
Now I’m trying to figure out if I could write it next spring and have it ready in time for Trek to Vegas 2027.
We’ve been done with the Star Trek convention for less than five hours…
I miss the Star Trek convention.
Star Trek being everywhere around me just feels right.
Nothing quite like having your car’s AC die for half an hour while driving through the middle of nowhere at 101 degrees.
I may have loved Trek to Vegas, but I am definitely not a fan of the trek to Vegas part of it. I’m basically a Peacekeeper from Farscape and melt in the heat.
I’d generally prefer to cuddle a big plushie to a big bag of ice… but then I’d also rather have the car’s AC be working.
As someone who cannot handle heat at all, driving through Nevada and back feels like doing an underwater level in Sonic — gotta go as fast as you can, gotta hit every air/AC pocket you can along the way, and if you mess up… you probably just die.
