We don’t need to change the hearts & minds of fascist bigots. We NEED to take their power away.
But if you really WANT to change their hearts & minds, you need to speak their language—which is power. So again…
Take. Their. Power. Away.
Make them & their bigotry irrelevant.
Seriously, the best way to make all these bigots shape up is to show them that no one will listen to them; no one will waste energy or time on their bigotry; no one will bother with them at all—UNTIL THEY SHAPE UP.
Letting bigots explain their bigotry just feeds it. Don’t do it.
It’s time for bigots to shut up & listen until they learn not to be bigots anymore. If they never learn? Fine, no one ever need listen to them again.
Know what we will do? Give them healthcare & robust social support systems.
But no more listening to bigotry. Freeze it out.
Because you don’t learn by explaining your bigotry ad infinitum. Bigots have explained themselves more than enough. If we want them to learn to be better, they need to listen. Not talk.
The left has listened to the right more than enough. It’s time for the right to listen.
You can’t change the hearts and minds of people who won’t fucking stop talking.
So anyone who seriously cares about changing the hearts and minds of the political right needs to start by giving them the gift of refusing to listen to their bullshit.
You know how times of year can echo? Well, the echoes from four years ago have put me in a weird, combative state, like my body and brain were gearing up for having to cut family & friends out of my life again… though, I think I’ve already cut all the bigoted, fascist ones out.
