Writing Processes Changing

Generally, I’m a very linear writer. I write stories like I’m reading them… just more slowly. But lately, I’m finding myself writing passages entirely out of order, and the sentences reorder themselves around me like pieces in a Tetris game. It’s very disturbing.


There’s a sensation near the end of writing a story — almost a gravitational pull. Usually, it means it’s time to focus & rush through to the end. Apparently with a novel, that sensation can last weeks… taking on a restless, fitful quality… gah…


Just a few minutes ago I was eating German chocolate cake and watching a new episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend… now I am not.‬

‪I was not ready for the steep slide down from those heights.‬
