The lion, coyote, and bear
Argue and fight
Who is best?
Who is right?
They measure claws
Compare tails
Compete at running
Race through trails
To see who’s the fastest
Who’s the most
But what they don’t know is…
Mice are dancing
Squirrels are toasting
With goblets overflowing
Rabbits gather
And otters tumble like clowns
They don’t care
That the lion, coyote, and bear
Are too busy competing
—running themselves into the ground
Squabbling over a cold, gold crown—
To notice no one actually needs them
Not with all the merriment around
