Apparently the part of my brain that thought it was a good idea to put off writing my story for the Halloween reading until 4am the night before also decided I had too much of a lead on #NaNoWriMo… as such, I’ve failed to write anything today.

Things you don’t expect to have to say: “Can you draw more quietly, please?” But yes, the five-year-old found a way to scrape the pencils across the paper that was screechy and loud.
Prometheus (2012) is not a structurally satisfying film, but now that I’ve seen Alien: Covenant (2017), I guess I’ll grant that it’s not complete gibberish. And it does have some interesting parts. This is my lukewarm review of Prometheus.
Prometheus (2012) doesn’t really function as a stand-alone movie or even as an entry in the Alien movie franchise… but it’s pretty good (if a bit long) as a bonus extra piece of backstory.
The thing about the Alien movies is that they explore three of my favorite themes:
—robots are as morally ambivalent as humans
—biology walks a fine line between fascinatingly beautiful and deeply horrifying
—capitalism is evil
And now for a severe case of whiplash, it’s time to follow up Alien: Resurrection with the new episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

I’m wearing my 13th Doctor costume today, and it makes me feel like a super hero.
One fun thing about the 13th Doctor costume is that people either LOVE it or have no idea you’re even wearing a costume.
I think I finally have really committed to a plan for #NaNoWriMo — Daniel has made a thematically relevant playlist for it, and I’ve ordered a tiny model of Deep Space Nine to sit by my computer and be my muse. It’s going to be awesome.
