Me: struggles with writing a story for 20 years, never making real headway
Me: finally manages to write 3000 words of this ultra challenging story
Spouse: reads the words and says, “Oh, this is your version of Real Genius”
Me: YOU COULDN’T HAVE SAID THAT 20 YEARS AGO???
Seriously, I really wonder if that one sentence might have helped clarify what I was doing and made it possible to write this story years earlier.
Also, oh my god, the novel I’ve wanted to write for twenty years was just Real Genius. *head in hands*
