The Cat and the Christmas Tree

by Mary E. Lowd

Scheming, scheming
Piper is dreaming
Of glorious trouble
Glittering rubble
All caused by claws

In frantic pursuit
She’s redrawing the laws
Of aesthetics
Rules of decoration
(Forgo decorum!)
All quietly in a quorum
Planned between her pointed ears

Holiday doom
Draws near
