The Witch’s Whale

by Mary E. Lowd

The sky is just
A giant ocean
To this witch’s companion

By spells, she’s held
Aloft, rebuffing
Gravity’s notions
Of how a whale should fly

Or fall…
But that wouldn’t do at all

So they soar together
Unencumbered
And far too grand
For the mundanity
Of foolhardy gravity
