Think for Yourself

by Mary E. Lowd

One after another they flip
Changing their minds
Because everyone else around them
Changed their minds first
Like metal filings
Falling in rows
Around a magnet

But my mind is not magnetic
I don’t follow
The trends that flow
Through all the minds around me

Awkwardly
Obtrusively
Only me
