Waltz of the Oak and Daisy

by Mary E. Lowd

He protects her from the rain
She brightens his every day
They dance together
As much as they can
Swaying in place
Vines and roots
Twined and braided
Serenaded by crickets
Songbirds and frogs
Under the pale moonlight—
Such a majestic, heartwarming sight
