I love how totally unfazed everyone on DS9 is by Kira’s constant, simmering rage at everything. She’s effective; she’s reasonable; she’s their friend. They don’t police her tone. I wish so dearly the real world could be a place like that for me.

Once Upon a Time Musical
Diablo 3 seasons pro-tip: if you’re trying to solo the Boss Mode conquest and want to keep track of time without wasting any looking at it, listen to a 20-min music album you know well.
I like to listen to the Once Upon a Time musical episode soundtrack.
If I’d Encountered Animorphs Earlier…
I really wonder what I would have thought of the Animorphs books if I’d read them when came out, or better yet, a few years earlier even. Would I have loved them? I was a pretty opinionated, judgmental kid… but I think I might have loved them so much it would have changed me.
Would I have written different books myself if I’d read Animorphs when I was a kid? I think that’s really possible, and it makes me wonder what those books would’ve been. Continue reading “If I’d Encountered Animorphs Earlier…”
Clown Books
My kid was refusing to write a post for their English class about what they like to read. So, I wrote something for them:
"I lie= to read CLOWN books. Only book s with lowsns. It's like being a furry. But for clowns Is good post now"
Some of my best work, I think.
Stories Keep
Each story is a chance to reach and win over new readers. The more stories you write and release, the more chances you have at your work being found.
But even if a story isn’t found right away, if you keep it available, it still has a chance of being found later and being loved.
Shreddy, Gryphons, and the Dreaded “Vack-ooom”
Just reading Animorphs #8, thinking about how Ax knows the word “globules” but not “chocolate” and how beloved these books are and how ridiculous it was for my writing group to give me so much trouble for doing similar things in my Shreddy stories.
How I Met Your Mother is Robin’s Story
Unpopular opinion (& spoiler?): the end of How I Met Your Mother is absolutely fantastic. It’s heavily foreshadowed and a really beautiful, valuable lesson — Ted can both deeply treasure his time with the mother and still seek love again, without minimizing either relationship. Suddenly Rose City Comic Con
Apparently my fifteen-year-old’s group of friends is all going to Rose City Comic Con tomorrow, and the way my kid perked up when I said we could maybe go too definitely made it seem worth doing.
So, I guess I’ll be at comic con tomorrow! Continue reading “Suddenly Rose City Comic Con”
The Power of Leslie Knope’s Journey
I’ve been re-watching Parks & Rec with my kids, and I always loved Leslie Knope’s journey, but it’s hitting me even harder this time, now that I’m further along mine.
The way she achieves her dream, loses her dream, readjusts, and just keeps struggling… It’s everything. Continue reading “The Power of Leslie Knope’s Journey”
Taking Back the Power of Production, One Story at a Time
I just finished writing a story about alittle lion with a mane of flowers, and I’m thinking of publishing it to Deep Sky Anchor
on Monday. It already has art from Midjourney, and my mom, who’s good enough to be a professional copy-editor, will probably look it over tomorrow. Continue reading “Taking Back the Power of Production, One Story at a Time”
