My spouse asked me to make an album for his 45th birthday. “Purple Goes with Green” is the opening and title track. Those are our favorite colors, and when we met, we’d each independently concluded the best complement to our favorite was the other.
“So Many Unicorns” is a fun, silly, cheerful song about several kinds of animals… that turn out to not be unicorns. And one that is.
It has a sort of Sandra Boynton vibe.

“Commuting on a Unicycle” is a song about how my spouse rides his unicycle to work. So pretty much what the title says. It’s fun, cheerful, and silly.
“Your Invisible White Rabbit” is a song about Harvey, of course. But it’s also just about having someone who you get along with better than other people.
Remember how when April marries Andy in Parks & Rec, she says, “I kind of hate most things but I never really seem to hate you”?
“Not a Capybara” is a silly love song in that vein, ‘cause see capybaras get along with everyone.
“Do the Spaniel Bop” feels like a song that could be on Sesame Street.
My spouse’s favorite animal is the moose. So, making an album for his birthday, it had to have a song about the majesty of moose.

There aren’t enough birthday songs. I mean, most of the time, it doesn’t matter. But when you want a birthday song, there’s simply a dearth of options.
