Knocked Down Flat

I’ve received more than 1700 rejections. I keep track of them in a spreadsheet.

I’m really practiced at being rejected, and most of them roll right off me.

But even after all that practice, some rejections hurt more than others.

Sometimes, a rejection can still knock me flat.


And in this case, it was for something that doesn’t have a lot of potential markets. But I think the real problem is that I hadn’t dealt with my feelings about missing my uncle’s funeral a day and a half earlier, so I had no resilience for handling discouragement at that moment.


Sometimes reading is too hard. And sometimes even watching a video is too hard. And all that’s left is scrolling through pictures of stuffed toy giraffes you could buy. But probably won’t. But maybe…
