Origami

by Mary E. Lowd

Every night my mind does origami
With my memories
Folding up my life like an accordion
Fanning it out like an antelope
Or an armadillo
Seeing which moments
—seemingly disconnected—
Connect, like a child playing hopscotch
Jumping from one foot to the other
From one memory to the next
