Today’s song is “Spoiler Warning”—a satirical piece about TV shows & their fandoms that turned out quite catchy.
“Sister Ghost” is a light, pretty folk rock song about finding an appropriate home for the singer’s sister ghost at a haunted hotel. At least, literally.
But the heart has to do with wrestling with being estranged from family.
“Sting Once and Die” was tricky… it had to be sharp-edged and angry, because the story it’s based on is a fantasy about guns coming to life and killing their owners.
But it still needed to be something I’d enjoy hearing, and that’s a thin line to walk.
If you love a vintage doo-wop sound, “Dealership with the Devil” is chef’s kiss. It was the first Suno track I managed to get with that sort of a sound, and I was over the moon when I heard it.
This song ushered in a whole era of my music.
“St. Kalwain and the Lady Uta” is a story about a wolf man indentured to the faerie queen who’s called on to fight to slay a many-headed dragon. The song version has a sort of Irish folk rock vibe that makes it sound really magical.
“Brain-Dead Baby Jesuses” is one of the angriest, most intense stories I’ve ever written.
But the song is light and pretty with lovely harmonies… and oh so very, very, extremely pro-choice lyrics.
I wrote “FemCloud Inc.” before I knew about the problematic billionaire (who destroyed my fav social media) farming out his own reproduction… so… yay for predictive sci-fi? Ugh.
Anyway, the song has a fantastic, angry, 90s-grunge sound.
I wrote “The Dragon in My Toe” to help myself cope with the fact the pain in my toe turned out to be arthritis… and therefore basically permanent, even though it comes and goes.
