I created my first music album! “I Need a Unicorn” has eleven tracks with a mix of sci-fi, furry, and fantasy lyrics performed as light, catchy pop with a blend of mid-60s and early-00s sounds, featuring layered vocals and strong harmonies.
I’ve been trying to fall asleep listening to my new — and first! — album, “I Need a Unicorn,” but I keep waking up in startlement every time I start to drift off… simply too amazed in my sleep-addled state to believe this album is finally real.
I can’t wait to make more albums!
I’ve started work on a second album!
Unlike my first album, where I wrote all the lyrics myself, for this one, I’m using Claude to convert each story in my collection “The Opposite of Memory” into lyrics and then Suno to turn those into songs.
So basically, I’m creating a companion album to go with my book. It’s very exciting! I’ve long held that we need more sci-fi music, and finally, I’m able to make that happen. I’m vaguely planning to do this for all of my short story collections.
With 25 short stories, it’s looking like The Opposite of Memory’s soundtrack album will be a three-disc affair. I got the whole first disc done today, and it sounds amazing.
I’ll start tackling the second disc first thing tomorrow.
