The Gemstone Cat

by Mary E. Lowd

All the gems cluster
Too pretty to be clutter—
Too bright & shining
Too ambitious to remain
Nothing but loose stones

They come together
Take form together
To be worthy of a shape
More perfect than their own
Mathematically cut facets—
More graceful, more divine

So feline
