If you look at my publication history, I started releasing books a lot faster since AI. I know haters assume I use AI to write. (They give me one-star reviews on books that came out before AI. Rolls eyes.)
The truth is: getting dropped by my publisher made more of a difference.
Not waiting on the glacial pace of publishers has been amazing for my spirits, and it means I’m much more motivated to finish projects quickly.
And yes, I use AI for illustrations, music, & marketing advice, but the speed bump is entirely from no longer waiting for validation.
Eight years ago, I was writing a book mildly inspired by my time in college.
Then it got interrupted by selling a book to a publisher on the promise of making it a trilogy ASAP… followed by the pandemic… followed by the chaos of my other publisher dropping me over AI…
Anyway, I’m finally trying to get back to writing In a Dog’s World 2, and it’s a really surreal project.
It’d be weird enough working on something I started eight years ago, but adding in that it’s playing with inspiration from twenty-five years ago… That’s just trippy.
My Xeno-Spectre trilogy was inspired by a long-standing desire to see a home world of the Xeno-morphs from Alien.
So, I made my own terrifying parasitic aliens, wrote two books setting them up… and finally the third one is done and will be out in September!
