Writing in the Cold

I’m writing at that cute little open air plaza at the market downtown today, and because it’s cold, I brought: a baby blanket to fold up and sit on, a baby blanket and hot water bottle to put on my lap, three jackets, a warm hat to pull over my baseball cap and fingerless gloves.

Oh, also, my amazingly cozy and cute dragon scarf, not to mention a hot pumpkin spice latte.

Clearly, if the weather gets much colder, writing at this market will become untenable…

But hey, today I got 1400 words written, and the kid got a bunch of math schoolwork done.

To be fair, it’s not actually that cold out today. It’s just that the plaza is a bit of a wind tunnel, which you don’t really notice until you’ve been sitting still trying to write there for an hour. And the chairs are metal which just sucks the heat right out of you.
