Also, it feels weird to take a break from reading to… do some reading. But that’s what I want to do sometimes…
An e-zine about spaceships, aliens, science, memory, motherhood, magic, and cats.

The 11-year-old, who has in fact seen all the Star Wars movies:
“I thought… Luke was the one who turns into Darth Vader?”
And this is why insisting kids see Star Wars in the “right” order has always seemed silly to me.
Each dog occupies a distinct ecological niche: plush bed for the big black teddy bear; hard floor for the aesthetic shepherd who retains nothing of the work ethic of his breed except for the belief that he should sleep on hard ground; and a full couch for the fluffy-mop.
Right now, I have six books out. By the end of this year, I’ll have nine. #GoodFeeling Continue reading “Dogs, Books, Snow, Music”
Spaceship log: we’ve been invaded by six-limbed micro-soldiers. They’ve taken ahold of the emergency ration storage units. Negotiations are underway, but deadly force may prove necessary, as thus far they’ve refused all of our attempts at communication.
I have three books coming out from FurPlanet Productions this year!!!!!! SO EXCITING.
THREE BOOK YEAR!!!!!
Okay, so, just hear me out: a Muppet movie, except it follows Steven Universe rules for gem fusions, so we get to see all kinds of Muppet fusions, ending with a giant Muppet fusion of them all.

My favorite music to listen to when I’m angry is “American Idiot” by Green Day, and my favorite lyric from it is: “And there’s nothing wrong with me; this is how I’m supposed to be. In a land of make-believe, you don’t believe in me.” Continue reading “Finishing Tri-Galactic Trek”
I’m watching Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017) and it was possibly the shiniest movie I’d ever seen for the first fifteen minutes… and then the humans started talking, and it’s pure sexist cliches. Such fun. Sigh.
The blending of stunningly beautiful and creative visuals with cringingly cliched dialogue in Valerian (2017) is absolutely mind-bending. Continue reading “Valerian”
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is GLORIOUS and AWESOME and I LOVED every minute of it from beginning to end. Seriously, it’s just so exciting, because no matter what happens it’s a win — I’m rooting for the people AND the dinos, both the nice plant-eaters & the awesome preds who want to eat the herbivores. I was even rooting for the lava. I mean, seriously, dinos vs. hot lava??? SO GOOD.
A lyric from Waitress: The Musical by Sara Bareilles — “my only friend was a stray kitty called Sardine / I thought it was hilarious to call a cat a kind of fish.”
Having written three novels about a cat named Kipper, I feel a deep and profound kinship with this lyric.
Yeah… I think Sara Bareilles is my new favorite musical artist.
