A Quiet Place is overall a good, valuable movie, and I actually quite liked its sequel…
But I’m never gonna forgive it for its first ten minutes.
If I’d known what to expect from the beginning of A Quiet Place, I’d have probably skipped the movie entirely. Or maybe I’d have been prepared and thus able to forgive it.
Knowing what I was getting into worked with the Broken Earth trilogy for me.
Being taken off-guard by the beginning of A Quiet Place led to me making sure to have Bird Box spoiled for me before watching it, and I think I would have actually really enjoyed getting to experience Bird Box without the spoilers. So that was a waste.
Re-watching Bird Box after more than two years of pandemic, that movie really holds up. Sandra Bullock’s performance is phenomenal.
