The End Goal for Interstellar Travel

by Mary E. Lowd

Derelict, forgotten
Overgrown & moth-eaten
—the alien kind
Moths who eat metal—
Used to be top-o-the-line
Fast as fast can go
But now it’s brittle
Immovable
Only good for show
Displaying a past
When we used to know
How to travel from star to star

But now we’re happy
Where we are
