Kitten Becomes Cat

by Mary E. Lowd

Fuzzy kitten
Small and sweet
Tiny ears and tiny feet

Give it time
And kittens grow
So, so fast
Faster than you know

Now there’s a cat
Where the kitten was

It’s enough to give one pause

Longer tail and fluffier fur
But deep inside
Beats the same heart as before
