A week ago, I wasn’t sure if I’d still know how to make albums even with AI to help me if I wasn’t using my 20-year backlog of short story collections as a scaffolding for them.
Since then I’ve made two albums I love arguably more than any of the ones I made before them.
However, each of these new albums borrowed a lot from similarly limited resources — leaning heavily on song ideas I’ve been collecting in my mind for a long time. In a couple cases, the song ideas were older than either of my kids, and my older kid started college this year.
So, I guess, the next phase is to figure out what it looks like to create a music album really from scratch.
A lot of the albums I created in the last half year only took a couple days of intense work. It will be interesting to see how or if that changes going forward.
