Time, Cats, Dragonheart, and Buffy

Me: tries and fails to sleep

Time: passes

Me: checks time

Me: “How has it only been fifteen minutes???”

Time: laughs

Our Bengal cat Piper has advanced from stealing stuffed toy otters (who are now hidden in drawers for their own protection) to stealing phone chargers and web-cams.

I think she has something planned. Possibly she’s a new model of Cylon.

So, as it came to my attention about a year ago that Dragonheart has sequels, I’m now watching them.

The dragon in Dragonheart 2 is disappointing. Robby Benson is okay, but no Sean Connery; and the animation is kind of… too smiley.

But the oldest brother from Malcolm in the Middle always looks like he’s up to something, planning half-baked mischief, and that’s fun to watch.

Now I’m on to Dragonheart 3, and the dragon is gorgeous. But… I dunno… maybe it’s just that I’m really tired, but it’s not holding my attention. It feels kind of serious and boring.

But oh, he just started speaking, and Ben Kingsley makes a magnificent dragon!

I think maybe dragons need British accents.

I’ve started re-watching Buffy from the beginning, because my 13-year-old-wants to see it. And while there is a lot I like about this show, the amount of sexist objectification and toxic masculinity baked into the dialogue and the very fabric of the show is hard to take.
