The Playful Dance of an Otter

by Mary E. Lowd

They are the waves
The waves are their dance
Flippers shuffle
White caps crest
Swell and flow
Flamenco or tango
(More graceful than any silly flamingo)
The water twirls to their whim
They bend to the water’s pull
They never rest
For playfulness staves
Off any hint of weariness
