That feeling when you’re just about to declare yourself finished with edits on a book… only to stumble across a final note saying, “Search for the word ‘that,’ and remove as many as you can.”
Alas, this is not the first time THAT this has happened to me.
It’s really kind of impressive how much my brain skips over the word “that.” I can read a paragraph, think, “Yeah, that seems really good.” Then turn on the search that highlights “that” in yellow, and suddenly see there’s like five of them, and it’s much stronger with none.
