I’m realizing, as I close in on the end of this trilogy, that I’ve never finished writing a book without any future plans to write more books about those characters before. I usually write open-ended worlds, meant to be revisited…
But in my mind, the trilogy that starts with The Snake’s Song has always been specifically a trilogy, and it’s very much a separate world from my other books and stories.
And I think… the idea of it really and completely ending is making the ending feel too heavy to write.
I guess… I need to come up with some ideas for spin-off stories or novellas or something. ‘Cause whether I write them or not, knowing that I could construct a new doorway back into my world, where I can visit my characters, will make it easier for me to close this door.
