Touching Jellyfish on Neptune XVI

by Mary E. Lowd

Gentle, peaceful
Her fur is thick
So the sting won’t hurt
She traveled far
From another star
For a single moment
—this moment—
Just her paw
And the jelly’s arm

She felt so sure
It would be worth it
Now she’s here

And her universe turns
Around this moment
Like a central pivot
