I remember the bananas in “Diary of a Wartime Bride” (a subset of “To Elsie With Love”) playing a much more significant role.

I’ve come into possession of the copyrights for my grandfather’s three memoirs — “Jam on the Ceiling,” “To Elsie with Love,” and “My Wife Has Alzheimer’s” — and plan to release them as e-books in the coming year.
