Elaine, sounding disappointed: “Why isn’t there school on Christmas?”

Me: “Because people want to be able to spend Christmas with their families.”

Gah. Trudith and Kipper started talking to each other in my head again. I’m supposed to edit book 2 before I start book 3!

Elaine, after hearing me talk about the Wordos’ goal-setting-and-review meeting tonight: “Maybe when I start Wordos, I’ll get a hundred sales!”

Instead of fading away as I’ve grown up, my imaginary friend from childhood has taken on new life, first as a side character in my novels and now moonlighting as a baby-sitter for my daughter’s imaginary friends while she’s in school.

Proof I enjoy playing my new ocarina: I’m choosing to practice playing it instead of listening to the new Owl City album.

I can play themes from Indian Jones and Jurassic Park on my fish ocarina. It’s nice to have a little clay fish who will sing for me.

The Beach Boys performing “Good Vibrations” live: nothing will ever sound that good again. But, I think I can live with that.
